We are now looking for a Senior Data Platform Engineer to join our Data Platform Team within Digital Services. You'll help build the data platform that powers analytics, AI, and data-driven innovation across DeLaval.
The platform is build with Databricks run on AWS Cloud to provide an unified way to discover, access, and process data across the organization.
We operate using a hub-and-spoke model, where the platform team delivers reusable capabilities while domain teams own their data products and business logic. This enables teams to work independently while benefiting from common standards and tooling.
Role and responsibilities
As a Data Platform Engineer, you will design, build, and operate reliable, secure, and cost-efficient platform capabilities that enable teams across DeLaval to develop and run data and AI products at scale.
Key Responsibilities:
• Build and maintain a self-serve data platform using AWS services, Terraform, Databricks
• Implement and manage data mesh principles to support domain-oriented data ownership
• Design and support medallion architecture (bronze, silver, gold layers) using Databricks
• Ensure platform’s scalability, observability, security and cost optimization
• Implement data governance practices including cataloguing, lineage, access control, data contracts and quality controls
• Collaborate in a Scrum team to deliver platform features in an agile, iterative manner
• Support platform users and promote best practices across teams
Qualifications
To be successful in this role we believe that you have:
• Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, information systems, engineering, or equivalent
• Experience working in agile/scrum delivery teams
• About 5 years of relevant experience, including 3 years with AWS Cloud Infrastructure
• Strong hands-on experience with AWS services (e.g., S3, Glue, Lambda, IAM, EKS, Redshift)
• Proficiency in IAM design: secrets, networking, private connectivity, service principals etc.
• Experience of working with multi account cloud infrastructure.
• Proficiency in Terraform, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), CICD
• Programming skills in Python
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
• Nice to have: experience with Databricks: Unity Catalog, Delta Lake, workflows/jobs, compute/serverless, permissions, external locations/storage credentials, account/workspace architecture
